Another Winter
I was at work sitting in a training when I saw, through the window, that the rain had turned to snow. The soft, heavy flakes drifted lazily past the window onto the green grass of the soccer field.
On Saturday I set about taking care of a few last minute preparations for the cold weather. Using my dilapidated truck, the tires of which are literally ripping apart at the treads, I drove to the bulk heating-oil center a few times to refuel my home heaters.
Then I climbed up the side of my garage and crawled on my belly to the top of my pitched roof, perhaps twenty feet in the air. I scooted across the ridge of the roof until I reached the thirty-plus year old, completely useless chimney. This chimney appears to be the source of a leak in my garage. My inspection of the chimney did not reveal any useful information; I still do not know how the water is entering and filling up the ceiling.
Taking an old tarp and a ratchet strap, I wrapped the chimney until it was completely covered and tightened it down. Then I shimmied back across the roof and down the garage.
My fingernails still have muck underneath from dirt that’s gathered on the old rooftop. The blue jeans I wore are in the washing machine. There doesn’t seem to be much else that I can do to fix the leak or otherwise prepare for winter at the moment.

I used Google’s Gemini AI to help me create and manage my sql database for tracking relevant data. For example, I used Google Gemini to write a script that exports my singing data records from my custom PostgreSQL database and format the data as an HTML table.
