For this week’s skill-building vocal exercise, I recorded myself singing a five-note intervallic exercise across my current singing range.
The above exercise is yet another exercise offered in the Berklee Vocal Technique DVD.
Before going to bed tonight, I experimented with my range for a few hours, focusing primarily on the lower end.

Memories to Share
One of my favorite memories this week came when I went to check on my children.
I had been solving problems around the garage for an hour or two and the place had become strangely quiet. Usually, I wind up interacting with my children every few minutes, or I can at least hear them playing in the yard.
The quiet became disconcerting and I stepped over to our our small house to make sure they were okay. As soon as I opened the main door to the house, I was hit with a wall of steam. My glasses fogged over immediately, but I could just make out through the blurry view that the bathroom door was left open. I could also hear the shower running.
In the bathroom, I found my children splashing in the tub, and with an unusual extra circumstance. They had taken what appeared to be most of a box of Honey Nut Cheerios and poured it into the hot water. With these Cheerios swirling around their armpits, the boys were sending their toys on scuba diving expeditions up and down, above and below the Cheerio-crafted skin.
Exasperated as I was as I pulled them out of the tub to begin cleaning, I had to admit, this idea was pretty adorable.

No artificial intelligence was used for the writing or performing portion of this blog post.
I used Google’s Gemini AI to help me write a sql script to export my database records of my practice sessions into a .csv format, and convert that table into the above HTML table, as seen above.
